The Struthers Wildcat bowling squads travelled to Boardman Lanes on Sunday, 2/9/2020, to start the trail that leads to the state tournament, by participating in the OHSAA Sectionals. The format, a 3 team game, and 6 Baker game total pinfall event. The top 4 teams would advance to Districts.
For the LadyCats, a 798 team game led by Hannah Hoffman’s 208, put them in 2nd place to start their day. In game2, Hailey DeGenaro paced with a 177 en route to a 810 game, and maintain their 2nd position. DeGenaro led again in game3 with her 165 , in a 716 team game but gave up a position to third with a 2324. At the end of the team game round, they trailed Hubbard (2491) and Girard (2406), and were ahead of Labrae (2048). Hoffman led the LadyCats for the day with her 504 set (208, 145, 151). Madison Stanton was next with her 476 (162, 159, 155), followed by Hailey DeGenaro’s 459 (117, 177, 165). Kiara Bankhead rolled to a 458 (171, 164, 123), and Brandy Sue Wilson tallied a 427 (140, 165, 122). In Baker’s, the LadyCat opened with a 120 and 128, and kept their 3rd place position. Games 3&4 were 132, and 167, and the maintained their 3rd position. The final games of 173, and 143, gave then a 863 Baker set, and cinched the 3rd place, and their ticket to Districts along with Hubbard (1st), Girard (2nd), and Labrae (4th). The tournament roster also included: Mary Williams, and Lauryn Mileto.
Next for the Wildcats on the tournament trail, a road trip to Avon Lake, Ohio, and Nautical Lanes for the OHSAA Districts, with a trip to State at stake. The Boys will compete at noon on Sunday 2/16/20, while the girls will look for their opportunity on Monday 2/17/2020. In order to advance to state, the Cats must finish in the top 4 in the same format as was contested at Sectionals.
