Struthers Wildcats boys varsity travelled to Warren, Ohio and Freeway Lanes for the OHSAA Sectional tournament, on Monday 2/8. The top 4 teams in total pincount will advance to District s in 2 weeks. The format is 3 team games with 6 Baker games.
In game1, the Cats rolled an 845 game paced by Jared Medvec’s 213. Brennan Baber was next with a 177, followed closely by Sean Lane’s 175. Dom Farrar added a 143, and Ben Bishop a 137. The Cats found themselves opening 2nd position. In game2, the Cats improved on game1 with an 884 team effort, featuring Dom Farrar’s 212. He was followed by Sean Lane’s 202. Ben Bishop added a 179, with Jared Medvec rolling a 153, and Brennan Baber a 138. They maintained their 2nd place position, only 66 pins behind 1st place Hubbard. In game3, the Cats rolled their best of the day with a tournament high 906 team effort, led by Sean Lane’s 218. Next was Jared Medvec’s 181, followed by Brennan Baber at 180, and one more pin by Dom Farrar at 179. Ben Bishop rolled a 148. Cats were still in second place entering bakers. For the day, Sean Lane led the Cats with a 595 set, and 3rd place overall finish. Jared Medvec was next with his 547 and a 10th place tie. Dom Farrar notched 15th place with his 534. Next was Brennan Baber at 26th with his 495, and Ben Bishop placed 33rd with his 464. The Cats baker set was 1033, comprised of games of 171, 151, 158, 200, 193, and 160. Struthers maintained 2nd place throughout the baker round and guaranteed their spot in the District tournament, with a total pincount of 3668. Districts will be held Friday, 2/19/21 at Rebman Lanes in Lorain Ohio.
